Level III NICU & Maternal ICU | Dr Sujata Kar

The NICU is one of the best equipped and staffed units in Bhubaneswar and is manned by an expert team of doctors, specialists, technicians and nursing staff. The unit receives referrals from within the state and surrounding states. The unit has already set a benchmark in ensuring survival of extreme preterm babies by saving the smallest baby from 25 weeks gestation and birth weight of less than 700 grams. We also have in house inter specialty support and maternal ICU for complicated cases.

This kind of nursery has teams of health care providers who take care of: Babies who are born before 32 weeks who weigh less than 1,500 grams. Babies of any age or weight who are critically ill. Babies who need equipment to help them breathe to stay alive. Babies who may need surgery.



This level of NICU is able to:



  • Provide comprehensive care for babies born before 32 weeks that weigh less than 1500 grams
  • Provide comprehensive care for babies born at any number of weeks and birth weights that have a serious illness
  • Provide a full range of respiratory support
  • Provide advanced imaging and interpretation
  • Provide access to a full range of pediatric surgical specialists, pediatric medical subspecialists, pediatric ophthalmologists, and pediatric anesthesiologists
